Oh no he's back for more

[So Benny's still in Wankerville. By now, he's getting a better grasp of what's going on and what to expect. This isn't just because he's spoken to Shelly and Tori; it's because he found a certain convenient book. It's titled "Welcome to Wankerville, Random Nexus Facts For Dummies".

That's not the only thing he's found.

Right now, he's sitting on the front steps of one of the houses, playing with four kittens. He's not sure where their mother is, but he does know they were incredibly hungry when he stumbled across them. Luckily, they seem to about four or five weeks old, so they accepted meat scraps just fine. He fed them and now he's stuck with them. Not that he minds, of course. He enjoys their company. Shoe was already a fully-grown, lazy tomcat when Benny got him, so the opportunity to play with actual kittens is new to him.]

[Shelly never left, he thinks. He's not entirely sure where he's been - it's all oddly hazy, and frankly concerning.

His concerns fade away for the briefest of moments once he spots the kittens, and they are immediately replaced by an intense feeling of something else once his gaze moves on to Benny.

Panic. He thinks it might be panic.

That may be why he's just standing there and staring now.]

[Benny doesn't notice his presence at first. The kittens are taking up a lot of his attention. In fact, they're demanding his attention. Two of them are wrestling near his feet, one has curled into a tiny little ball on his lap and the fourth one is pawing at Benny's outstretched finger. Boop. Boop. -Oh careful, here come the sharp little nails- abort mission.

That's when he looks up and spots Shelly. ...Ah. Hm. Alright, this might not look very befitting of a gentleman, but... Come on, it's kittens. He'll just smile his most flattering smile.]

[Time to compose yourself, Shelly. Come on. IT MAY NOT BE THE EASIEST THING TO DO, SINCE KITTENS ARE ADORABLE AND YOUR ADOPTED SON FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE IS THERE, BUT YOU CAN DO IT.]

... Are they yours?

[Yes perfect.]

[He's being asked a question. His not-dead-dad from a universe where Benny was never raised as a De Killer, and who is incidentally also from ten years in the past, is asking him a question.]

... Technically speaking, they're strays. However, if no one comes to claim them, I'll have no choice but to adopt them.

[Considering how few people are in this village, he doubts any claims will be made.]

In that case, I hope you have the resources to take care of this many kittens. Animal neglect is something I quite adamantly disapprove of.

[No. No. He's a grown man and he can damn well adopt kittens if he wants to. Who does Shelly think he is, throwing terms like "animal neglect" around?]

... Leaving them out on the abandoned streets will not do either. I'll find whatever resources they need.

[Wow. If Shelly expected nothing less, why would he even imply animal neglect? Shows how much those expectations are worth, Benny thinks grudgingly.]

Then... I'm glad you think so. [Oops, there's that fourth kitten again, pawing at his sleeve. Now tiny little nails are caught in the fabric. What a welcome distraction.]

[Oh dang. Oh dang that kitten is going to ruin Benny's suit but Shelly doesn't even CARE that much. It's so cute.

He may be staring with a warmer smile than usual.]

[Hm hm. Looks like that kitten can't free its claws on its own. Benny will just carefully pry the fuzzy little paw off with his free hand. Theeere we go. Gentle headpets for the kitten!]

Do they have names yet?

[Shelly may have certainly attempted to sound like he was only asking a casual question - like he had no real investment in the answer - but it's possible that his attempt was in vain.

Dogs and cats are the greatest.]

[Benny happens to know for a fact that his father had a soft spot for Shoe, so it's not too hard to imagine that kittens might catch his interest.]

Not yet. ...I'm still weighing my options.

And... what would those options be?

[He definitely does care.]

[Ehhh... Now he feels a little self-conscious about it.]

Well... I was considering Macintosh. Or Bartholomew. [...Don't disown him. Again.]

A young woman I met here suggested the name Nilla. [...As in the wafer. Benny kinda likes it, even if it is a huge jump away from Bartholomew. It's still ten times more subtle than Shoe.]

So far, I've only met one. Her name is Tori.

That is... curious. You are the only person I've met here.
