Oh no he's back for more

[So Benny's still in Wankerville. By now, he's getting a better grasp of what's going on and what to expect. This isn't just because he's spoken to Shelly and Tori; it's because he found a certain convenient book. It's titled "Welcome to Wankerville, Random Nexus Facts For Dummies".

That's not the only thing he's found.

Right now, he's sitting on the front steps of one of the houses, playing with four kittens. He's not sure where their mother is, but he does know they were incredibly hungry when he stumbled across them. Luckily, they seem to about four or five weeks old, so they accepted meat scraps just fine. He fed them and now he's stuck with them. Not that he minds, of course. He enjoys their company. Shoe was already a fully-grown, lazy tomcat when Benny got him, so the opportunity to play with actual kittens is new to him.]

Hm. We'd have to find a girl to match that name. [He's pretty sure this red one is male, but it's a little hard to tell when they're at this age.]

Yeah, that's true... [Wait a second.] You're really considering it?!

[dehipster]

Of course. Who doesn't like Nilla wafers? [SMILE.]

[skirtcladgunner]

[He gets a big smile in return.]

Heh, you're right. I sure as hell don't know anyone who doesn't~

[dehipster]

Then, it's settled. Now we just need to find out which one Nilla would be. [He tosses one end of the string at the red one again, because it's starting to become mesmerized with Benny's shoelaces and we can't have that.]

...Not this one, I believe.

[skirtcladgunner]

[A small giggle.]

Yeah, you really seem to like that one. I wouldn't want to take the honor of naming that one from you...

Well, I was referring to his gender, but that's another good point.

[Aw look, one of the kitten's tiny little nails got snagged on the string. Tug, tug.]

I think I'll name him Macintosh. [Except that's a bit of a lie, because by now he's fairly convinced that he will and nobody can change his mind.]

[skirtcladgunner]

Macintosh, eh? Like the apple? [She looks down at kitten tugging on the string.] Well, I think it's a good fit.

[dehipster]

[Yes, like the apple. Very good.]

I'm glad you think so.

[skirtcladgunner]

Of course I do! It's like Nilla, it's one of those food names that just works for a kitty!

[Someone is extremely enthusiastic about this.]

[dehipster]

[Food names? ...Oh. Well, he supposes it could also include that kind of apple, but he was thinking of- Ah, whatever.]

... It'll be nice to have some company in the house. This village is so quiet, it's a bit eerie.

[skirtcladgunner]

Yeah, it really is. I mean, more than it was the first time I was here. For some reason, not having my life threatened makes this place more creepy.

[On that note, have some strained laughter.]

[dehipster]

[He hears the strain in that laughter. He hears it.]

I would offer to threaten it instead, but I doubt you'll take me that seriously. Especially when I've got four of these little ones darting around my legs. [Hahah. Failed assassin humor.]

[skirtcladgunner]

Oh, no! I'm totally terrified by the kitten-loving therapist! [Though, maybe she is a little terrified of him for real, deep down. Not that she would realize it on the surface, but. Therapists. They can see into your soul.] I promise, I'd take you completely seriously~

[At least her laughter is less strained this time around.]

[Oh Tori, if only you knew. If only.]

Ahh, that's certainly good to know. [He leans forward to scoop the red kitten up with one hand and place it in his lap. Who's a good Macintosh?]

[skirtcladgunner]

Heh, is it? [She directs her attention to one of the other kittens, gently running her fingers over the top of its head.] So glad I could help with reassuring you~

[A small bit of silence from her end before she responds again.]

I wonder how long this place will keep me this time.

[dehipster]

It wasn't too long at all last time, was it? [Idly petting the tiny little kitten in his lap. Yup. There can never be enough petting.]

[skirtcladgunner]

No, it wasn't. I usually don't stay here long at all. [Which was something she was thankful for when the crazy Yuan was around, but she isn't as thankful for it now. Benny's a decent enough guy, after all.] But you never know--life might throw me yet another curve ball if I expect it to be the same this time~

[Exaggerated sigh.]

[dehipster]

[He hears that tilde. Tori, are you Mafia?]

Do you have somewhere else you'd rather be?

[skirtcladgunner]

[She is not mafia, she swears.]

...yeah, sort of. None of those places are really an option anymore, though.

[Not really. Everything feels wrong with people things should feel right with, and she certainly can't go home.]

[dehipster]

[Not an option? He doesn't really get how that would work, but he won't pry.]

Oh... That's a shame. I hope you'll find a way to surpass whatever it is that's in your way.

[skirtcladgunner]

[The next thing she says is more to herself than to him:]

Maybe things will improve once we kill that sparkling excuse for a vampire. [A very lengthy pause.] ...we just have to find him first.

[dehipster]

... A sparkling excuse for a vampire?

[........... No way. It couldn't be.]

[skirtcladgunner]

Yes. And his brooding, lifeless minions.

[She tries not to let the hurt she feels seep into her voice, but she likely fails. It hurts to think that her adoptive father, a man full of energy and life, is probably one of them now.

If he isn't just dead all together.]

[dehipster]

[Ah. Apparently this is a touchy subject. He just... he needs to know for sure.]

Is this, by any chance, a vampire with skin that sparkles when exposed to broad daylight?
