Oh no he's back for more

[So Benny's still in Wankerville. By now, he's getting a better grasp of what's going on and what to expect. This isn't just because he's spoken to Shelly and Tori; it's because he found a certain convenient book. It's titled "Welcome to Wankerville, Random Nexus Facts For Dummies".

That's not the only thing he's found.

Right now, he's sitting on the front steps of one of the houses, playing with four kittens. He's not sure where their mother is, but he does know they were incredibly hungry when he stumbled across them. Luckily, they seem to about four or five weeks old, so they accepted meat scraps just fine. He fed them and now he's stuck with them. Not that he minds, of course. He enjoys their company. Shoe was already a fully-grown, lazy tomcat when Benny got him, so the opportunity to play with actual kittens is new to him.]

[She doesn't even realize what she's said until she says it. That's always been a bad habit of hers. She averts her attention to the kittens rather quickly.]

[He has no idea what that's even supposed to mean. It seems as if she doesn't want to talk about it, though. He turns his attention to the kittens as well, lifting one of them into his lap.]

As long as there's still something to fight for, there's still a chance to win. That's what's most important, I believe.

[She indeed doesn't want to talk about it, though not talking about any of this is probably why she's as bad off as she is right now. Well, no one can accuse her of actually having reasonable decisions, right? She smiles weakly.]

Yeah, you're probably right. Thanks.

[She moves very carefully to pet one of the other kittens with just as much care.]

Aww, aren't you such a good kitty...~?

[Petpet.]

[The way Benny sees it, kittens are therapeutic in their own right. They don't have the same effect on a person's psyche as actually talking about your problems, but if a person doesn't want to talk, kittens are the next best thing.]

I wonder where their mother is... I haven't seen any adult cats around at all.

[She looks to Benny, but doesn't stop petting the kitten.]

That's pretty worrisome...

[Worrisome... Yes, it is. He ruffles the fur of the kitten in his lap with both hands.]

Hmm... I think that these little guys are old enough to eat solid food, but I certainly hope the mother isn't in any sort of trouble.

Yeah... [She sounds a little distracted now.] If that man I told you about is still here, I doubt he'd hurt a cat. Still, I hope the mother is okay too. No matter what species, it's good for kids to have something resembling a parent...

Yes. Yes, it is. That sort of thing is vital, really.

...yeah. It is. [She's just sounding more and more distracted.] It's... definitely a vital thing.

Hmm... [Wow, this conversation turned painful fast. He needs to try and steer the topic away from there.]

Well, if the mother can no longer be a parent to these kittens, we could always take that role upon ourselves.
