Oh no he's back for more

[So Benny's still in Wankerville. By now, he's getting a better grasp of what's going on and what to expect. This isn't just because he's spoken to Shelly and Tori; it's because he found a certain convenient book. It's titled "Welcome to Wankerville, Random Nexus Facts For Dummies".

That's not the only thing he's found.

Right now, he's sitting on the front steps of one of the houses, playing with four kittens. He's not sure where their mother is, but he does know they were incredibly hungry when he stumbled across them. Luckily, they seem to about four or five weeks old, so they accepted meat scraps just fine. He fed them and now he's stuck with them. Not that he minds, of course. He enjoys their company. Shoe was already a fully-grown, lazy tomcat when Benny got him, so the opportunity to play with actual kittens is new to him.]

[The next thing she says is more to herself than to him:]

Maybe things will improve once we kill that sparkling excuse for a vampire. [A very lengthy pause.] ...we just have to find him first.

[........... No way. It couldn't be.]

Yes. And his brooding, lifeless minions.

[She tries not to let the hurt she feels seep into her voice, but she likely fails. It hurts to think that her adoptive father, a man full of energy and life, is probably one of them now.

If he isn't just dead all together.]

[Ah. Apparently this is a touchy subject. He just... he needs to know for sure.]

Is this, by any chance, a vampire with skin that sparkles when exposed to broad daylight?

[But if that's the case, why would Benny be brought here instead of Twinklehaven? ...is this another instance like Bro's?]

I wouldn't know about any lords, but I've heard of the Cullen family, yes. They're, ah... very popular with teenage girls, one might say.

I don't get how they can exist as fictional characters in one world, much less more than one.

[It must be how they can sneak in so easily in some worlds...!]

Considering how well the books and the movies sold, perhaps it isn't entirely surprising. Perhaps there's a market for this sort of thing in most worlds.

The Cullen I know of has screwed up the population of many, many worlds. Or at the very least, he's the reason the infestation of his kind has gotten so bad.

[Just a tad bit bitter about losing her world to him, maybe. Among other things.]

And he did this in person? [... Did he still look like exactly that guy from the fourth Harry Potter movie, or would actor choice not matter in the transition from fictional to real life? HMMMM....]

Maybe in the beginning, I don't know. But not once I was dragged into everything. He has enough "loyal subjects" to do that for him...

That's... odd. The fictional Edward Cullen didn't strike me as the 'evil overlord' type.

[Not that he read the books. Certainly not more than once. ...Or twice. .......He read them before they were overhyped by teenage girls okay. It was a phase. He got over it.]

Really? Maybe it would be better if "Lord" Cullen was more like the fictional one, then.

... I suppose that in the grand scheme of it all, it would be. [Because at least then, Edward's horrors would be confined to just one world. It wouldn't spread. ...Probably.]

Considerably different, I would wager. But then, there is always a 'what if' scenario like that. Hundreds of them- thousands of them, in fact.

[She lets out a small puff of laughter, but it isn't entirely sincere.]

I suppose so. One can only hope things will get better from here on out.

Yeah, you can say that again. [Obviously, this is something that has worn her down quite a bit. ...understatement.] Hope might be the only thing I have left, in a way.

[The only thing she has left that she can't potentially hurt.]

[Ah. Hm. Well...] That's good. Having hope is better than having lost hope. So long as you have it, there's still something to fight for.

And if there's still something to fight for, then I still have a reason to keep control...

[She doesn't even realize what she's said until she says it. That's always been a bad habit of hers. She averts her attention to the kittens rather quickly.]

[He has no idea what that's even supposed to mean. It seems as if she doesn't want to talk about it, though. He turns his attention to the kittens as well, lifting one of them into his lap.]

As long as there's still something to fight for, there's still a chance to win. That's what's most important, I believe.

[She indeed doesn't want to talk about it, though not talking about any of this is probably why she's as bad off as she is right now. Well, no one can accuse her of actually having reasonable decisions, right? She smiles weakly.]

Yeah, you're probably right. Thanks.

[She moves very carefully to pet one of the other kittens with just as much care.]

Aww, aren't you such a good kitty...~?
