Oh no he's back for more

[So Benny's still in Wankerville. By now, he's getting a better grasp of what's going on and what to expect. This isn't just because he's spoken to Shelly and Tori; it's because he found a certain convenient book. It's titled "Welcome to Wankerville, Random Nexus Facts For Dummies".

That's not the only thing he's found.

Right now, he's sitting on the front steps of one of the houses, playing with four kittens. He's not sure where their mother is, but he does know they were incredibly hungry when he stumbled across them. Luckily, they seem to about four or five weeks old, so they accepted meat scraps just fine. He fed them and now he's stuck with them. Not that he minds, of course. He enjoys their company. Shoe was already a fully-grown, lazy tomcat when Benny got him, so the opportunity to play with actual kittens is new to him.]

For the moment, Abigail is watching Benny from a distance. She's already been here for a little while, so at least the panic of being taken to yet another strange place has worn off. Her wariness towards those who appear completely human, however, has not. though really abby you would not want to meet whoever may or may not still be here who has elfen blood okay

At the moment, she's conflicted. On one hand, a possible human. On the other, anyone who likes cute little animals can't be bad!]

[Aww, look. A child. That's... a little disconcerting, actually. With how few people are here in the village, he doubts the parents would be here as well. Is this kid all alone? That won't do.

He won't force a greeting out of her, though. Shy kids will be shy kids. He'll just pretend he didn't see her and wait for her to come to him.]

[She can't just keep watching him, and he's the only one she's seen here thus far. Abigail hides her ears with her hair, gathers her courage and does something she can do, now that she's the one approaching someone and not someone finding her under a table:

She channels her Papa, the way he can be intimidating at times. Or rather, she tries very hard to attempt it as she approaches Benny, trying her best to appear imperial and above him.]

...you. Do you know where we are? [...ah, those kittens are so cute--no, none of that!]

[... That came off as a bit rude. Granted, he can't blame a kid for neglecting common courtesy in a situation like this, but... Hm. The question is troubling as well. He'd rather not say the word "Wankerville" to a child.]

I'm just as much a stranger here as you are, I'm afraid.

[She's not a kid. She's fifteen. She can learn things! And... go outside... even though she's been going "outside" way too much these days![

Is that so? [Nope, still trying to imitate her Papa.] Is there anything you do know about this place, then?

[She may be a fifteen-year-old girl who really isn't taller than her Papa or her Daddy were at similar ages, but she can make this work. She can make this work. Just... just ignore the kittens--!]

[He stands corrected. Darn half-elf genes.]

This place is what one would call a nexus. It's... Well, it's a world between worlds, so to speak.

Another one of these places... [Why does she keep getting taken to them? She wanted to be able to explore her own world, not...] Is there anything else you know?

[Another one? Good grief, this kid's been to others?]

Only that all the resources are free for the taking and very few other people can be found here.

Hm. Yes, this place does seem emptier than the last one. [Stay strong, keep the act going. Don't show how scared you are.]

I'd say the dominant species in this place would be cats. At the moment, they outnumber us two to one.

[Oh, wow. Wow. You (most likely) human, how dare you. Don't think you're going to break her down, she's got Papa's attitude backing her up--

I really can? [She's still pretty suspicious though, so she frowns again.] But I wasn't exactly kind to you...

If you'd been unkind towards the kittens, I might not offer. However, I see no harm in it.

I wouldn't have been unkind toward the kittens! They're not... [Well, let's not get into that. She crouches down, gently petting one of the kittens. She's being extremely careful, even. So cute...]

[Yes, good. Go right ahead and pet the kittens. Benny will watch, keeping a tight hold on his own kitten.]

[Petpetpet... oh, the little kitten is purring! So adorable! She giggles a little again, completely off guard despite Benny's presence.]

[Wow it sure is a good thing Benny's not an assassin or anything. Yup.]

... So, do you like cats?

[Nod.]

Uh-huh. My family has a couple. [Even if Mithos had decided he wanted to say "no," it would have been four to one. And so, kitties.] They're really sweet.

I have one at home as well. He's rather old and sluggish- the complete opposite of these four.

[So he doesn't just have these sweeties, he has one back in his world. People who like cats can't be bad, right...]

But you love him all the same, right?

[dehipster]

Of course. He's one of my best friends.

[Benny has remarkably few friends. He can't even count Bobby, because that's one of his patients. He needs to be careful not to blur the line between business and personal.]

What's his name? Your cat.

[She peers up at Benny in curiosity, but he might be able to notice that her guard has slightly risen again and that her body language isn't entirely relaxed. Now that she's looking at him, she remembers why she was wary in the first place.]

[Benny doesn't mind at all. It's good for children to be wary of strangers and honestly, he'd prefer this over a kid who's nosy and overbearing.]

Shoe. As in... a shoe. [He gestures to his feet, where a kitten is playing with his shoelaces.]

...is it common to name cats after things like that?

[She honestly wouldn't know.]

Mama likes naming cats after cookies and wafers, but...
